For Immediate Release:
11/09/2008 Bishop, GA - Hathor Farm’s Hell-On-Wheels SW (Heloise) completed a Qualifying Track at the Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of America’s National Specialty Tracking Test.
The 14 pound Standard Wirehaired Dachshund picked up the scent at the starting flag and never looked back through 455 yards and four 90 degree turns and one 30 degree turn. She completed the track in 7 minutes for a speed of 2.2 MPH!
“She was just awesome” said handler Gail LaBerge. “She quartered her turns, found the track and committed to the change in scent line immediately”. Mrs. LaBerge could be seen trailing 20 to 35 feet behind Heloise, hanging on to the tracking line for dear life. “There were times I was actually running to keep up with her”, said Mrs. LaBerge.
Accomplishing this feat earns Heloise the title of AKC Tracking Dog and allows her the honor of placing the letters TD after her name.
Left to right: Track layer Karen Broomfield, Judge Diane Dittrich, Handler Gail LaBerge, Heloise, Judge Dr. Mary Mahaffey.
